Why are our birds dying off? EU report

Familiar birds like starlings and cuckoos have become rarities across the Westcountry and could die out in the region, a new report has shown.
They are among the one in three European birds which are endangered, according to the most comprehensive study of Europe’s wildlife and natural habitats ever produced.
The EU State of Nature report reveals a dramatic decline among once common birds such as the skylarks and house sparrows.
The British Trust for Ornithology, which provided UK data for the report, said that of the 110 species monitored in its Breeding Bird Survey, 18 are Red listed and 38 are Amber listed …
