Greenpeace calls for Pacific tuna to be saved

Greenpeace International (www.fis.com/fis/companies/deta…) has urged the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission ( WCPFC – www.fis.com/fis/companies/deta… ) to take action regarding the alarming decrease in Pacific bigeye tuna stocks.
The NGO made this call in anticipation of the meeting that the Commission is to hold in Tokyo, and little time after the Scientific Committee of the WCPFC received a report indicating that tuna prices are reaching the highest level in a long time …

Kingpin behind bars for poaching chimps
A man who has admitted trafficking over 500 endangered chimpanzees out of the West African country Republic of Guinea has been captured and sentenced to the maximum possible jail term and a fine, according to a law enforcement group involved with the case ( www.wara-enforcement.org/proje… ).
