Sea Shepherd Wins Fight Against Japanese Whaling, Hunt Ends With Very Low Kills (Video)

The Japanese whaling fleet, disguised as a research team, returns home with almost empty pockets. The Sea Shepherd organization successfully placed this year’s profit for Japan at serious rock bottom. Per Captain Paul Watson, killing just over 300 Minke whales in a full three-month campaign is an obvious defeat.
Watson posted his victorious claim on his official Facebook page supported by over half a million environmentalists worldwide. The report came in after various media outfits reported that the Japanese whaling fleet killed a total of 333 whales in the Antarctic. Apparently, these reports are giving the wrong tone in the true results of this year’s hunting season. …

Protesters want circus without animals, Shrine says they’re treated well (Video)

BILLINGS – The Al Bedoo Shrine Circus performed the fourth day of its five-day run Saturday, but protesters advocated for a show without wild animals.

Norway kicks off minke hunt, raises quota to 999 whales

Norway on Saturday kicked off its annual six-month whale hunting season with whalers allowed to kill an increased quota of 999 minke whales, up from 880 animals in 2016.
The International Whaling Commission imposed a commercial ban on whaling in 1986, but Norway objected. Norwegian officials estimate there are more than 100,000 North Atlantic minke whales—which are not an endangered species—off the long ragged western coast of Norway where the hunt takes place. …
